Our Story

The mission of Project Wezesha is to empower the people of rural Tanzania through increased access to education for youth in remote villages.

Wezesha = Empower

Wezesha is the Kiswahili word for Empower.  Project Wezesha was founded in 2009 by Lucas Lameck and Rai Farrelly. Project Wezesha works with local leaders, educators, and families to support motivated young people as they pursue post-secondary education.

We believe in the ripple effect caused by educating young people who see themselves as agents of change. We have already seen great changes in family and community members’ perceptions about the value of education. We’re grateful for the tremendous support that we’ve received over the years from the communities we work with and hope to continue for years to come. Please check out some of our stories of success here are on our blog.

We are grateful for your support!
